Send And Receive Money
Ever wish you could send money to people by e-mail? So did we. No money wires. No mailing cash or checks. No sharing private account numbers.
Cell PhoneEnter Serve. Wish fulfilled. Here's how:
  • Sending
It's as easy as e-mail. In fact, it is e-mail. Just send money via your Serve account to the recipient's e-mail address.** Once they've confirmed the transfer, your payment is complete and they're paid in full.
  • Receiving
Anyone with a Serve account can pay you quickly and easily by sending funds to your email address. If you're already a registered Serve user, you simply accept the transfer and the funds will be deposited into your Serve account. If you're not yet a Serve customer, your notification email will take you through the easy registration process.
Offline, Online, Mobile
Online
You can manage your Serve account 100% online. Your online dashboard lets you manage your profile, view transactions, send and receive money, manage subaccounts, and more — all in one place.
Mobile
Take your money with you using the Serve mobile app on your smartphone. Manage your account and send or receive money on the go.
Offline
When you set up your Serve account, you will also receive a prepaid, reloadable card that you can use to make purchases online and offline wherever American Express is accepted in the U.S. Swipe at the gas pump, buy groceries at the store, and withdraw cash at ATMs.***
With Serve, you can have more control over your spending and that's a good thing. Your Serve account is prepaid, so you only spend up to the amount you put into it. You can add more money whenever you want, online or via the mobile app.
Subaccounts
Cell PhoneManage funds for friends, family, and more
With Serve, you can create the perfect subaccount for any occasion or anyone over 13: your kids, employees, or even service providers.
You can transfer money into and out of the subaccount seamlessly, view spending activity, and control access. It's perfect for allowances. Or babysitter pizza budgets. It's up to you!
Security
Top-notch Security
Serve is provided by American Express, where keeping your money and identity secure is a top priority. Here's how we do it:
  • Encryption
Advanced encryption technology helps keep your transactions secure.
  • PINs
Sending money from your account requires a confidential PIN as an extra security precaution.
  • Multi-factor Authentication
Asking for a little more information when you log in helps protect your identity and prevent unauthorized access.
Fees
Signing up for Serve is free. FREE? Yep, free. In fact, with Serve all of these features are free:
  • Person-to-person money transfers are free
  • Transfers to and from subaccounts are free
  • Purchasing online and in stores with the Serve card is free
  • There are no load fees for funding your account via your checking account
  • The first ATM withdrawal each month is free; after that it’s $2.00***
So what isn't free?
After June 1, 2012, there will be fees for:
  • Funding your Serve account with a credit card (2.9% of the amount transferred + $0.30 per transfer)
  • Getting cash from an ATM (first withdrawal per month is FREE***; after that, it’s $2.00)
Your Personal Tools
To make Serve better, we're creating new personal tools. Widgets, really. You can choose the ones you like, customize them, and grab and post them on your social network or blog sites:
  • Serve Social Good
Donating to charity made easy! Use this personal tool to send some money to a good cause — right from your online account dashboard.
  • Personal Selling
Serve can be your cash register. This tool makes it easy to accept and track payments for personal items you sell online.
  • Personal Event Widgets
Raising dough for college? Or managing collections for a charity drive? This tool simplifies the process of accepting and tracking donations.
Serve accounts available to U.S. residents only. Subject to verification. Fees may apply. Certain fees are waived through June 1, 2012. Other eligibility and restrictions apply. See the Serve Consumer User Agreement for details.
*Green Dot® will refund the MoneyPak® purchase fee (up to $4.95) directly to the Serve account within (14) fourteen business days from the date of reload. Eligible only to customers who have never reloaded the Serve account with MoneyPak and have an active account when the credit is applied. One credit per account. MoneyPak funds must be applied to the Serve account by October 27, 2012.
**In order to send or receive payments, each user must have a registered Serve account.
***A separate ATM fee by the ATM owner may apply.

As you can see from the page information, Paypal has another competitor that keeps the fees down and the intrusion to an all-time low. And the fact that your cash is backed by American Express helps to give your services and products for selling credibility.

Sign up for an account and free yourself from the craziness of fees and account lockdowns!!

  3. Hm...Very interesting. I never did like the fact that Paypal was my only option. Since we are looking into starting an online business, we will have to look more closely at Serve.com. Thanks for the info.

    1. For me serve works even better than wepay since there isn't a need to have a bank account tied to your account. Once money is placed onto card it is instantly available.
